Editorial policy
These are the rules the RecortNews newsroom follows. They exist so readers can hold us to them.
Reporting and sources
Factual claims are confirmed before publication. We prefer named sources; where anonymity is needed to protect someone, we explain why. We seek comment before publishing accusations — and say so in the story when we could not get it.
Errors and corrections
We get things wrong, like any newsroom. What we promise is a visible fix: corrections are made on the story itself, with a note saying what changed and when, and the original is never quietly deleted. Significant corrections get prominence proportional to the error.
Advertising and sponsored content
Advertising is always identifiable as advertising. Sponsored content carries a prominent label, names the advertiser, and is not produced by the newsroom. Advertisers get no advance access to stories and no influence over coverage.
Use of artificial intelligence
AI tools may assist with transcription, translation and headline suggestions. No story is published without review by a named journalist, and editorial responsibility is always human.
